Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community shared condolences for the star in the following the terrible crash.
